An update on new Medicare cards

The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) requires Social Security Numbers to be removed from all Medicare cards by April 2019 to help reduce the risk of identity theft and fraud. A unique and randomly-assigned Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) will replace SSNs on new Medicare cards. Every Medicare enrollee will receive a new Medicare card beginning in April 2018 through April 2019.

What do you clients need to know?
